Kacey Dela Rosa, Gilas women start 3×3 campaign

MANILA, Philippines–Kacey dela Rosa will lead Gilas Pilipinas’ own bid for a medal finish in women’s 3×3 U-23 basketball of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday.

Dela Rosa teams up with Kennan Ka, Amyah Espanol and Maria Pasilang as Gilas plays Mongolia and Macau in Group C at Kinjo Futo Station Square.

Gilas battles the fancied Mongolian side at 11 a.m. Manila time, while the match against Macau is set at 1:05 p.m.

The 22-year-old Dela Rosa was tapped for the halfcourt event, which meant that she couldn’t take part in the Gilas Women 5-on-5 team for the Asiad.

But the Ateneo star is no stranger to playing 3×3, having led Gilas to last year’s Fiba 3×3 U-23 Women’s Cup in Xiongan, China.

Dela Rosa and Gilas, also composed of Kristine Cayabyab, Elaine Etang and Cheska Apag, went 1-3 in Pool B.

Now Dela Rosa has new teammates for the Asiad in Ka, who is set for a one-and-done with University of the Philippines in UAAP Season 89 after a US NCAA Division I career at Long Beach State.

Espanol and Pasilang, on the other hand, are teammates at Far Eastern University.
